JANESVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The homicide trial of a former Wisconsin Badger football player continues for a third day Thursday in Rock County Court.
Wednesday morning, 36-year-old Marcus Randle-El’s attorney, Michael Hart, questioned Janesville Police Sergeant Benjamin Thompson, who admitted to spitting out sunflower seeds at the crime scene.
“I think it goes without saying, but nowhere in the academy were you taught that it’s a good idea to co-mingle your DNA with other items in a crime scene.” said Hart.
The sunflower seeds were found among shell casings, blood swabs, and victim teeth.
Randle-El is accused of shooting Seairaha Winchester and Brittany McAdory to death in Janesville in February of 2020 in a dispute over drug money. He charged with two counts of first degree intentional homicide, operating a vehicle without consent, and possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon. His trial is expected to go until next week.
