WISCONSIN (WTAQ-WRN) — A Wednesday gathering in Dodgeville focused on help for farmers facing increased stress and other challenges.
Those involved with Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action program’s Farm Well initiative met with representatives from the Evers administration to discuss rural mental health programming.
A participant in the meeting, dairy farmer Dan Wegmueller, says the program connects people who have the same struggles.
“We’re all in the same boat. That has helped more to break the barriers and just allow people come out and talk about it.” said Wegmueller. “Realizing you’re not alone has been the biggest help.”
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has a round-the-clock Farmer Wellness Hotline to help those struggling with mental health crises. The toll-free number is (888) 901-2558.
