MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Elections Commission has determined that there were no errors related to voting equipment during the 2022 general election.
Commissioners announced on Friday that a random sampling of ballot machines showed an effective error rate of 0.0%. The historic audit of voting equipment used in the November 2022 General Election covered 10% of reporting units across the state and included a review of nearly 225,000 ballots.
The audit also found that no voting machines changed votes from one candidate to another or incorrectly tallied ballots.
Six human errors were reported in four municipalities, though none impacted the result of a contest.
Audits are conducted after each general election by selecting 357 reporting units statewide. State statute requires that at least one machine from each county be selected, though there is no guarantee that one machine from each municipality is selected.
