WESTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Everest Metro Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Desmond Mayo after a weekend shooting incident injured one person.
WAOW TV reports that police were called to a Weston hospital on Saturday where a gunshot victim had transported themselves to the emergency room. The victim was then transported to another hospital, where they were interviewed by police the next day.
The victim said they did not know Mayo’s name, only a nickname, but they were able to identify him through photos on social media.
Officers were able to corroborate the story, leading them to issue the warrant.
Court records show he has multiple drug charges and cases against him in Marathon County. He was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, battery, and disorderly conduct back in July 2021 where he was free one day later on a $500 bond.
Another charge in August 2021 involved possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possessing more than 50 grams of amphetamine with intent to deliver, possessing more than 40 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug trafficking place, and receiving a stolen firearm. He posted a $1,000 bond and was out the next day.
