UNITY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – An 18-year-old Abbotsford man faces attempted first-degree intentional homicide charges after a stabbing outside a tavern in Unity.
Leovigildo Cruz Hernandez had his initial appearance in court on Wednesday.
The incident happened on January 22 around 2am. Police were dispatched to a bar on Front Street Unity for a man who was stabbed and bleeding from the stomach. The owner of the tavern reported the incident.
Police said in the report they saw two men come from the restroom area, with one holding the other by the collar. That man was identified as Hernandez. A police report says there was blood on Hernandez’s hand and a cut on his finger.
The stabbing victim was transported to Marshfield Medical Center where he was interviewed by deputies. He said about a year ago he asked Hernandez if he could borrow money and Hernandez loaned him $600. The victim said he paid most of it back but still owed Hernandez $50.
Hernandez is being held on $250,000 cash bond.
