WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Marathon County man has reached a plea deal with the state for an amended charge stemming from the sexual assault of an unconscious victim back in 2020.
Tyrone Gentry has been handed a withheld probation sentence for one count of fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, after previously facing a felony count of second-degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim.
Conditions of the sentence include a lifetime on the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry along with the completion of all treatment and counseling as deemed appropriate. He will have to serve a six-month conditional sentence in the Marathon County Jail and must maintain absolute sobriety.
The 59-year-old has also been ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Police say the incident in question dates back to 2018 when a woman said she had fallen asleep at a friend’s house, then woke up with gentry on top of her.
Gentry does have a history of offenses including drug-related charges, theft, and disorderly conduct.
