STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point man accused of stabbing a woman while she and her daughter were sleeping appears to have reached a plea deal to avoid trial.
Elier Bravo had a plea hearing scheduled for April 4th during a court appearance on Monday. He’s facing seven felony counts including two charges of attempted homicide by use of a dangerous weapon and two counts of aggravated battery.
He also faces one count of burglary and two counts of mayhem.
The most serious charges against him are class A felonies, which carry a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison.
Officers say Bravo broke into the house while the woman and her daughter were sleeping. The woman said she woke up to find him standing over her with a knife. She tried to fight him off but was stabbed several times. Her daughter was also stabbed during the confrontation.
She also told investigators that she had suspected someone had been entering the home for weeks, prompting her to install security cameras. Bravo was seen on camera footage leaving the house with blood on his clothing.
Bravo has been held in the Portage County jail on a $5 million bond. He previously entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
