TOWN OF ROCK FALLS, WI (WSAU) — A 32-year-old Merrill man was arrested on suspicion of his 3rd OWI after a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Rock Falls.
Sheriff’s officials say it started with a report of a vehicle on private property. When officers arrived, they found the man had driven off the road and struck a tree.
Officers say he was asleep when they arrived at the scene. After he woke up, they immediately noticed signs of impairment.
He then failed a field sobriety test and was booked into the Lincoln County Jail for a 3rd offense OWI.
It’s unclear how much damage was caused by the crash. The man’s name has not been released.
A 3rd offense OWI in Wisconsin carries a maximum penalty of up to a year in jail, up to $2,000 in fines, and having your driver’s license revoked for up to three years.
