WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A sex offender has been released in Wausau following the completion of his prison sentence.
Peter Jewell-Reigel was found guilty back in 2019 of second-degree sexual assault of a child and receiving child pornography. The 24-year-old was sentenced to five years in state prison and eight years of extended supervision.
On Tuesday Jewell-Reigel was released into transitional housing near the Marathon County Courthouse. Officials add he will be on a strict schedule regarding time out in the community. Additionally, he will be subject to GPS monitoring and must maintain his address on the state sex offender registry.
Residents are reminded that information on releasing sex offenders is made public for informational purposes only. Anyone who attempts to harass or intimidate a convicted sex offender who has reached their mandatory release date will not be tolerated.
