SENECA, WI (WSAU) – The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the suspect involved in a hit-and-run near Wisconsin Rapids on Friday.
Cody Provost, 30, of Wisconsin Rapids, revealed to officers on Monday that he was indeed the driver in the hit-and-run. He also informed them that he assumed he had hit a mailbox and didn’t realize he had hit a person until later.

Provost admitted that he attempted to hide the damage to his vehicle by fixing the damaged parts. He is currently being held at the Wood County Jail on charges of hit-and-run causing an injury and obstructing an officer.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in the 4100 Block of George Road in the town of Seneca, and the 34-year-old victim remains in stable condition at Marshfield Medical Center.
