RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) — Voters in Rib Mountain have one more day to cast an in-person absentee ballot for next week’s incorporation referendum.
Those who would still like to cast an absentee ballot will be able to request one from 8:30 AM to 5 PM Friday. After that, you’ll have to wait until the polls open on Tuesday, July 11th, according to Clerk Lynnae Kolden
The election will run just like any other election. There will be just one polling location at the Rib Mountain Municipal Center, and voters will have from 7 AM to 8 PM to cast ballots. A photo ID will be required to vote.
Mailed and completed absentee ballots can drop it off Monday or Tuesday at the Municipal Center. Kolden notes that they must be received by 8 PM Tuesday to count, and each person must drop off their own ballot. Meaning you can’t have a friend or relative drop it off for you. Assistance will be available for those who need it, such as someone dropping off a ballot for a disabled person who is in the car but requires assistance getting out.
“We can go out to the car and verify that the person is in the vehicle. Just give us a call and we will come out and accept those ballots,” said Kolden.
Kolden adds that her office has received about 520 ballots so far between in-person absentee voting and those who have returned their ballots through the mail. According to the Marathon County Clerk’s office, there are just over 5,000 registered voters in Rib Mountain.
Kolden expects that results will be available shortly after the polls close. The Department of Administration will be responsible for verifying the results.
If the vote is successful, a subsequent election will be necessary to elect the Village President and Trustees.
