The Wausau School Board will meet on Monday to discuss branding and mascots for the new unified high school that’s coming in 2025 as part of the district’s restructuring plan.
According to Monday’s agenda packet, the board will consider leaving the current East and West mascots (Lumberjacks and Warriors, respectively) in place when the schools become the Junior and Senior High campuses.
It’s unclear if that will be a permanent change or if those mascots and colors will be placeholders. The board had previously expressed an interest in a complete rebrand but noted that it would be expensive and would likely take several years.
Also included with Monday’s agenda is a presentation from last month’s operations committee meeting that calls for the Junior and Senior High to have a new, consistent brand. The administration adds that they have a local designer who is willing to work with students to create that look.
Monday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM at the Longfellow Administration Building and public comment is part of the agenda.
