MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Excessive speeding remains an issue on state roads.
Wisconsin’s State Patrol says the number of citations for drivers going 100-plus miles per hour spiked during the pandemic and the bad habit is continuing.
In 2019, they issued 583 tickets for extreme speeding. In 2020, that number grew to over 14 hundred and continues to remain high; and it’s not just on the interstate.
Dane County deputies conducted a recent traffic enforcement operation and saw speeds of up to 140 miles per hour on US Highway 151.
