WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man charged with multiple felony counts for having sexual contact with a person younger than 13 has fired his attorney one week before a three-day trial was scheduled in the case.
Martin Raatz made the announcement in court on Monday, which was confirmed by his attorney who then asked to be removed from the case. The court granted the request, and the three-day trial previously scheduled for August 16th through the 18th was replaced with an August 23rd calendar call.
The 26-year-old is accused of inappropriately touching several girls in his Weston neighborhood in the summer of 2022.

Previous charges against Raatz date back to 2015 when he pled no contest to repeatedly having sex with the same child and was later found guilty by a judge. In 2016 he was found guilty of having sex with a child age 16 or older, a charge that carried a repeat modifier.
