MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Another year of funding has been found for a state office tasked with school safety.
The State Department of Justice has announced the Office of School Safety and its 24/7 ‘Speak Up Speak Out’ school safety tip line will remain in operation through the end of 2024, with money reallocated from the Federal American Rescue Plan Act.
Attorney General Josh Kaul said $1,340,000 in ARPA money designated for the state Crime Labs was reallocated after DOJ failed to find a third party vendor for evidence testing. But the Attorney General called on the legislature to provide permanent funding for the Office of School Safety.
