GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – With training camp coming to an end, Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur has named Jordan Love’s backup quarterback.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Lafleur announced on Thursday that rookie 5th-round pick Sean Clifford has won the job over the reigning USFL MVP Alex McGough. LaFleur stated, “I think it’s safe to say Sean’s our No. 2 quarterback.”
Clifford played well last weekend against the Patriots scoring an 81.8 grade on Pro Football Focus after delivering two “big-time throws,” nine passing first downs, and a completion percentage over 70.0.
He finished his career as Penn State’s all-time leader in wins as a starting quarterback and started all 13 games of the 2022 season and finished 226-for-351 passing with 2,822 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
