GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, 19-15, after yet another solid outing from Jordan Love.
Jordan Love finished the preseason with eight possessions played for the Packers, and the team scored on four of them, including 2-of-3 in the last preseason game on Saturday. In each of the three games, Love drove the team downfield for a touchdown. On Saturday, he completed an 80-yard touchdown drive with a pass to Christian Watson.
Love went 9 for 15 for 63 yards today with one touchdown pass, 21 rushing yards, and a passer rating of 91.8.
Rookie kicker Anders Carlson also had a solid day despite a blocked PAT. Carlson was 2 for 2 on field goal attempts today, including a key 57-yard field goal before the half, showing that he can make clutch kicks for this team.
The defense played a big role in the victory, as rookies Karl Brooks and Brenton Cox Jr. spent most of the game in Seattle’s backfield. Cox is on the bubble currently but played well with a tackle for loss against a run, forced a second loss on another run, and batted a pass during another disruptive effort.
The Packers also seem to have made a big decision at wide receiver, as undrafted rookie Malik Heath played with the starters today and saw seven targets, including a 15-yard catch for a first down. Heath has been battling Samri Toure and Grant DuBose for a spot on the 53-man roster.
Newly named backup quarterback Sean Clifford did leave the game with an injury, but head coach Matt LaFleur stated after the game that Clifford is fine and would’ve remained in the game had they not wanted to see more from Alex McGough.
The Packers will now begin the process of cutting their roster down from 90 to 53 before the deadline on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CST.
