MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers, leading 14-10 at halftime, pulled away in the third quarter for a 38-17 win to open their 2023 season.
It was Luke Fickell’s first win as the Badger’s new head coach.
Wisconsin had two 100-yard rushers. Chez Mellusi lad the team with 157-yards and two touchdowns. Braelon Allen had 141 yards and two more touchdowns. Wisconsin had two unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
New quarterback Tenner Mordacai threw a touchdown and two interceptions for 189 years in his first start for Wisconsin. He transferred to Madison from SMU.
The Badgers play Washington State on the road next Saturday.
