UPDATED: Burn Ban Lifted in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A burn ban that was in place for the City of Stevens Point has been lifted.

Officials had announced a burn ban Thursday morning, but by noon the Wisconsin DNR had upgraded Portage County from a high fire risk to moderate.

Burning permits will now be issued on a case-by-case basis.

Residents are asked to remain careful when doing any outdoor burning, such as grilling, using a firepit, or doing any sort of outdoor work that could create a spark.
