WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Federal funding totaling more than $11 million has been given to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
The funds to update the unemployment insurance system were distributed to eighteen states, including Wisconsin.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance services, we continue to seek ways we can leverage technology to improve the speed and accuracy of unemployment benefit payments and make the system easier to navigate,” said Amy Pechacek, Department of Workforce Development Secretary.
With the help of the funding, states will be able to modify and rebuild their unemployment insurance systems, strengthen their defenses against fraud, and improve user accessibility and dependability.
