WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin held its 7th annual Pumpkin Bonanza in Marathon Park in Wausau, drawing more than 150 visitors.
About 15 kids participated in the first Pumpkin Bonanza, but it has since expanded year after year.
Everyone had a variety of activities such as pumpkin bowling at their disposal, and many of the children dressed up in costumes featuring many of their favorite characters.
“It does not [necessarily] need to involve dressing up in a costume because there are children that have sensory needs that can’t have costumes on or might feel claustrophobic,” President of the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin Shannon Wadinski told WAOW.
The Wausau Holiday Parade will be hosted by the Autism Society in a sensory-friendly manner at the Jefferson Street Inn in December.
