MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Now’s the time to apply for a Lake Winnebago sturgeon spearing permit.
DNR sturgeon biologist Margaret Stadig says licenses have already been handed out for the upland rivers.
“But if you want to go spearing on Lake Winnebago, just make sure you head to a service center or head on to Go Wild and buy your tag,” said Stadig.
You’ve got until Halloween to get that tag.
Stadig says the sturgeon spearing season is one of the most exciting events in the state during the winter. Find out more online at dnr.wi.gov.
