WESTON, WI (WSAU) — A new report raises concerns about alleged behavior by Everest Metro Police Chief Clay Schulz, but nothing that would constitute a “legally actionable claim.”
According to Wisconsin Public Radio Schulz made inappropriate comments about a female employee’s breasts while at the bar with colleagues. He’s also accused of asking the woman to flash the group multiple times.
Witnesses also say Schulz and another employee would talk about how attractive the woman was. She once asked Schulz if her looks were the reason she got a raise, and he told her “You’re taking it the wrong way, it was just men talking. I never should have told you.”
Another employee also accused Schulz of asking for nude or semi-nude photos of a male employee’s wife after the couple had returned from a beach vacation. The same employee told investigators he didn’t feel he could continue to work for Schulz because of his behavior.
Investigators determined that the allegations were inappropriate and unprofessional but not “physically threatening,” and did not rise to the level of “a legally actionable claim of harassment.”
Schulz has denied the allegations, calling them frivolous and denying any type of wrongdoing. The Everest Metro Police Commission declined to take action against him as a result of the investigation.
