WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Wausau police say they’re no longer looking for a former inmate who violated terms of their parole.
Wesley J. Winters has been located in northern Wisconsin. It was thought he might be in the Wausau area. An alert was issued by Wausau PD over Thanksgiving weekend.
Winters has a rap sheet that includes an attempted armed robbery and a sexual assault in 1998.
Winters was required to register as a sex offender and provide a current address to law enforcement as a condition of parole.
There was some confusion over a photo of Winters that was released by law enforcement. He is male, but presents as a female. Police emphasized that the photograph was correct.
