HOUSTON TX (WSAU) –The Michigan Wolverines are the College Football Playoff National Champions.
Michigan defeated Washington 34-13 in the championship game at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Blake Corum rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Donovan Edwards also rushed for two scores as he put the Wolverines ahead 14-3 in the first quarter. Michigan’s defense came up with two interceptions and held the Huskies to just 46 yards on the ground. The Wolverines earned their first national title since 1997.
Michael Penix Jr. passed for 255 yards, one touchdown and two picks in the losing effort. Washington suffered its first loss of the season as the team fell to 14-and-1.
