GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Jaire Alexander, a cornerback for the Green Bay Packers, re-injured his ankle during Sunday’s wildcard victory over the Dallas Cowboys and was unable to practice on Wednesday.
According to Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry, Alexander is “a little bit further ahead this week than he obviously was last week,” which could provide fans with some optimism that he will be available to start Saturday night against the 49ers.
Alexander suffered the injury while trying to make a tackle in the third quarter, and head coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday that he did not believe Alexander would have been able to return against Dallas and wanted to be cautious with the star cornerback.
The team is hoping Alexander will return to practice on Thursday and is expected to release a final injury report for the week afterward.
