MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers are losing one of their top recruiters as co-defensive coordinator Colin Hitschler has accepted an offer to join new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer’s staff.
The hiring was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel who noted that Hitschler will work as the co-defensive coordinator alongside former South Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
Arguably UW’s top recruiter, Badgers 247 reports that Hitschler signed seven players in the 2024 recruiting class, many of which were the highest ranked, including Ernest Willor Jr., Kevin Heywood, Dilin Jones, and Olllio Agard. Hitschler also secured a very early commitment from Remington Moss, a safety projected for 2025.
Hitschler, along with offensive line coach Jack Bicknell and wide receivers coach Mike Brown, is the third assistant coach to leave or be reassigned since the end of the 2023 season.
