STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Wisconsin Rapids man accused of beating another man by running him over with his vehicle and then kicking him in the head has pled not guilty to all charges against him.
Luis Rodriguez-Moreno is accused of running over the victim in late November outside a home in Plover. According to the victim, he was visiting family when he went outside to take a phone call. The call became heated, and during the conversation, he saw a vehicle turn a corner and come speeding towards him.
The victim, who was not identified, was hospitalized for leg and face injuries. Doctors also observed tire marks on his clothing.
It’s unclear what caused the argument, or if Rodriguez-Moreno was on the other end of the phone call. Charges against him include attempted intentional homicide and aggravated battery causing great injury.
An attorney for Rodrigeuz-Moreno entered the plea on Friday. The 30-year-old also waived a reading of the charges and other information related to the case. Further court action was scheduled for March 11th.
The attempted homicide charge carries a mandatory life sentence plus 15 years for the aggravated battery count. No trial dates have been scheduled in the case.
