MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Bucks are hoping to get back to their winning ways after dropping a close game to the Denver Nuggets 113-107 on Monday night, and one Bucks star believes the team could be close to a breakthrough.
During an interview with ESPN’s Jamal Collier, Damian Lillard expressed “confidence” that the team will be able to “hit our stride,” saying, “You want to be productive; I want to do what I always do. I still have games and times where I feel like, man, I’m still kind of ironing it out. The thing that I think about all the time is that we’ve got to give ourselves grace to know that’s what the regular season is for. Especially with a trade this big and this much newness happening.”
“We’ve been winning through it. We’ve been finding a way. We just want to hit our stride and for it to click when it should. I have confidence that that will happen,” Lillard continued.
The Bucks are currently ranked second in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics, despite Lillard not scoring at his usual rate this season, with Milwaukee averaging 25.1 points per game compared to 32.2 points per game last season with Portland. However, having star players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton to help carry the scoring load and adapting to his already second-different coach in Milwaukee has been seen as a large reason for his drop in scoring.
Bucks pre-game will begin at 8:30 p.m. tonight on WSAU as they travel to Portland to face the Trail Blazers in Lillard’s first return to the city since being traded to Milwaukee before the season.
