LOHJA, FINLAND (WSAU) — The USA Men’s Junior curling team, featuring two Wausau curlers, will compete for the bronze medal at the World Championships in Finland.
The five-man team finished group play with a 6-3 record to advance to the semifinals against Norway on Friday morning. That match was close early, with the two sides tied at 2 after three ends, but the Norwegians pulled away late for a 10-4 victory after eight ends.
Norway will play Italy for the gold medal. The United States will play Denmark, with the winner claiming the last spot on the medal stand. The bronze medal match will begin at 7:00 AM CST Saturday, with live scoring available at worldcurling.org.
The U.S. team is skipped by Wausau West graduate Wes Wendling and includes Jackson Armstrong, Wausau, who throws lead. Other members are Jackson Bestland and Caden Hebert of Eau Claire and Kevin Tuma of St. Paul.
