STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-UWSP) — The No. 6 UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey team (21-5-2) is headed the Michigan for the first round of the NCAA Tournament after finding out Monday that No. 4 Adrian (22-6-1) is the opponent.
The Pointers and Bulldogs faceoff for the second-straight season in the NCAA Tournament after matching up last season in the quarterfinals.
Saturday’s (March 9) game is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET. At Arrington Arena in Adrian, Mich. Ticket information will be available later this week.
UWSP earned the WIAC automatic bid by winning its second-straight and fifth overall Commissioner’s Cup title on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire. It will be the Pointers’ 17th trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Pointers are led offensively by Fletcher Anderson (Thunder Bay, Ont./Sir William Churchill) with a team-high 30 points, one of 11 players in double figures. UWSP goaltender Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) led the WIAC in saves percentage at .924 this season.
