CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Today, I give you a paradox.
It is written in scripture that God says of Himself: “I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. I changeth not.”
And Jesus also says, “Behold! I make all things new!”
So… how could both be true?
The God who is a constant in all things, He is as He is, from the beginning of all time to the ending of everything, also tells us that everything will change.
I have this suggestion for you: It isn’t God that changes, it is you and me who are different. When we accept into our hearts that Jesus made a perfect sacrifice for us, and that when we call on the Christ we are promised eternal life, how can we not be different?
Someone who is saved can live with what the old hymn calls ‘blessed assurance.’ Imagine the certainty of knowing that a place is prepared for you in paradise. Surely that will change how you live here on Earth. You’ll be more patient when others around you stumble. I hope that you will be more generous. You already have all you will need in eternity. Giving things away now should be easy, it comes without cost. I hope you will share this inner peace with others, both by what you say and by how you live.
Easter Sunday is 23 days away. My prayer is that you will claim Christ’s resurrection as your own. And, I believe, for you, ‘behold, all things will be new.’
I hope your heart is touched to become a regular donor to the Gospel TLC, a one-of-its-kind live-in facility for men who are trying to kick addiction and might otherwise be homeless. You can make a cash donation by following this link.
The men of the Gospel TLC also need day-to-day household items and food: Things like large white trash bags, men’s body wash and shampoo, dishwasher and laundry pods. They also need food items: milk, eggs, breakfast sausage, sour cream, and shredded cheese. Those items can be dropped off at the Gospel TLC building, near the hospital in Weston, at Cross Pointe Boulevard.
