WAUSAU, WI (WAOW-WSAU) – Central Wisconsin is home to many unique events, and Chalkfest is one of the biggest.
Hundreds of artists come out to display their art for judges, and the community.
Ali Raczkowski is participating for the second year in a row and appreciates what the event provides for Central Wisconsin. She said, “It’s that one time of year where we all get to come out, you know, do artistic things, express who we are and what we love. It’s really fun and I love the community getting together live music. You know everyone’s having a great time, beautiful day out.”
The event provided an opportunity for members of the community to not only compete but come together over a love of art. Bria Polzin, the artist, said, “My favorite part about Chalkfest is the reactions around me. It’s honestly just bringing the community together. Nothing better than when you’re drawing and you hear reactions in the background saying that’s so good and it really brings people together even though it is a competition you’re really supporting one another.”
Although the rain shortened the event to only one day, it was still, as usual, a massive success.
