BRASILIA (Reuters) – Lawmakers in Brazil’s lower house of Congress approved on Tuesday the main text of a bill that would carry out a major overhaul on consumption taxes, while voting on amendments to the proposal is expected on Wednesday.
This is the second bill the government has sent lawmakers with regulations needed to implement a major constitutional tax reform Congress approved last year. The first one is already with the Senate, where the bill approved on Tuesday will be also sent to.
