ARBOR VITAE, WI (WSAU) — A former elementary math teacher in the Lakeland Union school district accused of possessing child pornography will not go to trial in October as previously scheduled.
Lucas Asbrenner is now scheduled for trial in mid-February for two felony counts. Investigators found images linked to one of his online accounts, leading to a search warrant that was executed in March 2023. Court records show a motion to adjourn was filed by the state and granted despite objection from the defense. It’s unclear what led to the request.
The 46-year-old was a fourth-grade math teacher at the Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk. He remains free on a $25,000 cash bond and has been outfitted with a GPS tracker. Conditions of his bond include no travel outside of Vilas or Oneida Counties and cannot access the internet.
Further motion hearings are scheduled for September 17th and December 18th. The trial is scheduled to begin on February 18th.
