MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Marshfield Clinic Health System is notifying patients of a data breach that may have compromised some sensitive information.
Multiple outlets, including WAOW TV, are reporting that some patients have received notices stating that an outside entity may have accessed their personal information, diagnoses, and insurance information as part of the breach.
Representatives from Marshfield Clinic confirmed that the unauthorized email access occurred between August 26th and 27th. Those impacted are being notified via US Mail and will be offered free identity theft protection services.
It’s unclear how many patients were impacted.
