STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Stevens Point Police and Fire Commission has named a new Chief of Police.
Current Lake Hallie Police Chief Edward Orgon, Jr, was named to the post on Monday night, according to WAOW TV. The vote was 3-2, following a roughly 90-minute closed session.
Orgon has been the chief since 2021. He will replace Robert Kussow, who is scheduled to retire in January.

The hiring process began in August with more than 25 total applicants. Orgon was named one of four finalists in October. That list included two internal candidates, Lieutenant Joseph Johnson and Assistant Chief Dana Williams, as well as Baraboo Police Captain Ryan La Broscian.
