Dustin Stinson
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau man accused of killing 31-year-old Jacob Socha has been bound over for trial.
Dustin Stinson made a court appearance on Monday, where Judge LaMont Jacobson bound him over for trial. The 34-year-old is accused of shooting Socha at a home in the Lazy Acres mobile home park near the Wausau business campus.
Socha was hospitalized and died a few days later. Police immediately named Stinson as a person of interest and took him into custody a few hours after the incident.
He now faces a count of intentional homicide, which carries an automatic life sentence if he’s found guilty. Additional charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with a GPS monitor, both felonies. Numerous misdemeanor charges have also been filed, including violation of a restraining order, criminal damage to property, and obstructing an officer. He also faces multiple counts of bail jumping.
Stinson has not entered a plea to the charges, which is scheduled for January 21st. Trial dates have not been set.
