MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The state of Wisconsin still isn’t seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases as a result of the Thanksgiving holiday, although numbers were up slightly on Tuesday from the previous day.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 4,114 new cases, or 42.9% of the 9,591 total tests completed. There were also 68 new deaths reported.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 418,446 total cases, more than 2.2 million negative tests and 3,806 deaths. DHS considers 352,510 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Bureau of Communicable Diseases Acting Director Traci DeSalvo said Tuesday that it’s still ‘too early’ to determine if there will be a Thanksgiving related spike in infections.
As of Tuesday morning, there were nine patients at the state’s alternate care facility near Milwaukee. That was an increase of three from Monday.
