PLOVER, WI (WSAU) — Two teenagers are facing jail time after allegedly breaking into a municipal building, stealing a vehicle, and crashing it.
According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office two teenage boys, 15 and 18 years old, broke into the Whiting Wastewater Treatment Facility, stole a truck, and later crashed it. A 911 call before 3 a.m. on Sunday came in reporting that two teens had shown up at the caller’s Plover home with injuries.
Allegedly once the teens had broken into the Whiting Wastewater Treatment Facility they stole a truck and crashed it through the locked gates. Both teens sustained non-life-threatening injuries and walked to a nearby residence after the crash.
The 18-year-old has been transported to the Portage County Jail while the 15-year-old was taken to the Portage County Juvenile Detention Facility. Charges recommended for the teens include OWI causing injury, burglary, criminal damage to property, and operate a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
