STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A local school board member is resigning from their position after being appointed to a new office.
In a letter to the superintendent of schools, Patricia (Trish) Baker has resigned her position on the Stevens Point Area Public School Board following her appointment as Circuit Court Judge by Governor Tony Evers. The appointment makes her ineligible to continue to serve as an elected official for the District. Baker has served on the School Board since 2014.
In her resignation letter to the District Baker says, “It has been an honor to have served our community, our staff, and all the SPAPSD families in this capacity. I have always believed that we improve our community by improving the education of our next generation.”
The School Board will review the application process and the timeline for filling the vacancy at its January 11, 2021, regular school board meeting. Details regarding how to apply for the vacancy will be shared following that meeting.
