MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — New coronavirus cases on Saturday are down from Friday as the downward trend in new cases continue in the state.
On Saturday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services confirmed 1,493 new cases of COVID-19 which accounted for 23.4% of the days total test results.
The positivity rate is up slightly from Friday, but the seven-day case average dropped to 1,365 Saturday after an average of 1,392 Friday.
33 deaths are being confirmed by the DHS as the seven-day average decreased to 30 on Saturday.
With COVID-19 vaccinations, 521,762 vaccines have been administered in the state through Friday, January 29.
As of Saturday, 414,680 residents who are ages 16 and above have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose with 17.6% of those being at least 65 years old.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 541,408 positive cases, over 2.5 million negative test results, and 5,893 deaths
The DHS considers 515,745 patients to be recovered from COVID-19.
19,581 COVID-19 cases are currently active.
