MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — State officials say that 1,466,654 Wisconsinites have been vaccinated against COVID-19, continuing the state’s status as one of the best in the nation for COVID-19 vaccinations.
That includes more than half a million people with their second dose of the vaccine. DHS reports that 505,123 people, or 8.7% of the state’s population, had received both doses of vaccine.
Meanwhile, virus activity continued to decline in Wisconsin on Tuesday. DHS reported 324 new confirmed cases, or 13.4% of the 2,414 total tests done. Tests were the fewest recorded since last April 27. There were also 28 new deaths.
The seven-day average of new cases fell to 575, while the average of deaths over the past week stood at 18 per day.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 564,592 total cases and 6,400 deaths. DHS lists 550,730 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
