MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The seven-day average of new coronavirus cases in Wisconsin increased for the first time in a week on Friday.
The state Department of Health Services reported 795 new cases, or 14.7% of the 5,408 people tested. The rolling weekly average increased to 653.
Another 13 deaths were linked to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. The seven-day average of deaths increased to five.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 593,789 confirmed cased and 6,738 deaths. DHS lists 577,684 people as having recovered from COVID-19.
Meanwhile, more than four in five Wisconsinites age 65 and over have received at least one shot of vaccine. Overall, 4,125,027 doses have been administered in the state. A total of 2,417,622 people (41.5% of the population) have received at least one dose, and 1,769,406 (30.4%) have completed their vaccine series.
