WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A report of a man passed out at a Portage County gas station ended with Sheriff’s officers in Wood County arresting a man on suspicion of his 8th OWI.
Officers were called early Thursday morning for a report of a man passed out in a vehicle at the gas station, but by the time they arrived to investigate the vehicle was gone. Some time later, officers in Wood County received a report about a vehicle running a stop sign and driver erratically near Wisconsin Rapids.
Officers were able to stop the driver, identified as 50-year-old William Ernest, near the intersection of State Highway 34 and Wilson Street where he was arrested.
Court records show the Bolingbrook, IL native has also been accused of numerous incidents in Wisconsin including driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to report to jail, and possession of cocaine.
