WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau community activist has announced her intention to run for a seat on the school board.
Kayley McColley launched her campaign with a Facebook post on Tuesday, saying she’s ready to help build a brighter future for the district.
McColley is a 2018 graduate of Wausau West and says she proudly received all of her K-12 education from the Wausau school system. She adds it would be an honor to serve as a voice for the district’s parents, students, and educators on the board.
She plans to start her campaign by using Facebook to tell her story and is encouraging residents to reach out to her with ideas and concerns regarding education in Wausau.
The district will have three seats up for election next April. Those are currently held by Board Vice President James Bouché, Jane Rusch, and Jon Creisher.
Candidates can begin circulating petitions on December 1st.
