MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin womens basketball team battled back from an early deficit but fell to Chicago State 71-63 in overtime on Monday night at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers fell behind by 17 in the first quarter before coming back to take a third quarter lead in the game.
Sydney Hillard tied the game with a bucket with under a minute to play and the Badgers forced a turnover but could not hit the game winner. The Cougars hit nine free throws in the OT for the win.
Hillard led the Badgers with 20 points. Julie Pospisilova added 15. Wisconsin missed twelve free throws in the loss.
The Badgers, now 1-3, will play at UW-Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Wisconsin kicker Colin Larsh announced on Monday he would return for a 6th season. Larsh, who red-shirted in 2017 and didn’t play in 2018 will use the extra year that the NCAA is providing to any player who played during the 2020-21 school year.
Larsh is 17 of 25 on field goals this season.
A multi-sport athlete from Lake Country Lutheran High School in Wisconsin has announced his commitment to play basketball at the University of Wisconsin.
Luke Haertle will be a preferred walk-on in the class of 2022.
The 6’4” shooting guard averaged 24.7 points per for the D-3 state runner up this past season. He was also the small school offensive player of the year in football as a quarterback for the Lightning.
