WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — There will be a large number of contested races for the 38 Marathon County Supervisor seats during the 2020 non-partisan spring election.
According to information released by County Clerk Kim Trueblood, 19 races have more than one candidate and two incumbents failed to file either non-candidacy papers or nominating petitions.
Those races are in Districts 2 and 24, seats held by Jenifer Bizzotto and Brent Jacobson, respectively. Because there was no action by the incumbent, the deadline to file paperwork in those districts has been extended to Friday, January 7th at 5 PM.
There is one declared candidate in District 2, Destiny Goretski, while District 24 has no declared candidates as of Wednesday morning.
While others interested in those two seats have time to take out the paperwork and return it by Friday, Bizzotto and Jacobson cannot use the time to complete their paperwork as incumbents. That leaves a write-in campaign as their only option to win re-election.
