STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP mens basketball team was outscored 17-3 in the final five minutes of the game and dropped an 87-74 decision to UW-Stout.
Garrett Nelson led all scorers with 22, a season high. Cliff McCray had 13 points, Jake Buchanen had 11 and Zach Mootz added 10.
The Pointers, now 3-9,0-5 in WIAC, will play at UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
The UWSP womens basketball lost to UW-Stout 63-61 on Wednesday night in Menominee. The Blue Devils rallied from a 10 point deficit in the 2nd half.
Merrill native Courtney Krueger led all scorers with 19 points including 3-4 from three point range. Jamie Pfeifer had 12 and Taylor Greenheck added 10.
The Pointers, now 9-5, 2-3 in WIAC, will host UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
