STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP mens basketball team dropped an 85-79 game in overtime with UW-Whitewater on Wednesday night at Quandt Fieldhouse.
The Pointers were up by one with 29 seconds to go in regulation. Whitewater hit a three and then Zach Mootz tied the game with 10 seconds left to send it to OT. The Warhawks scored the final six points in the overtime for the win.
Jake Buchanan led the Pointers with a season high 23 points. Garrett Nelson added 14 and Mootz had 13. Brennan Timm and Cliff McCray were also in double figures with 11 each.
The Pointers, now 3-11, 0-7 in WIAC, will travel to UW-Stout next Wednesday.
The UWSP womens basketball team went to double overtime with Whitewater last night before falling 74-69.
Taylor Greenheck had a double-double for the Pointers. She finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Courtney Krueger had 19 points, Jamie Pfeifer had 16 and Alexa Thomson added 11.
The Pointers, now 9-7, 2-5 in WIAC, will host UW-Stout next Wednesday.
